Either do an album where you slut it up all the way through, or do one where you sing about some sad shit, don’t do both. If the album cover is any indication, you’d think she would go for an entire futuristic and electronic album. This is the most Bipolar album I’ve ever heard. I’m not saying that the album is crap because there are some really good songs. It has the Santigold vibe. The sound of this song is the sound that she should have stuck with throughout the entire album. I didn’t like it when I first heard it, I didn’t like it when I saw the “trying too hard” video that came along with it, and I don’t like it on the album. First let me say that I do not like most American rappers, they all sound the same, and they all put out a bunch of crap that’s about the same thing, so when I saw that “Woohoo” had Nicki “rat face” Minaj on it all I could say was “Goddamnit”. It’s like throwing mud on a rose, it just f**ks it all up. I do like the song though, I just have have to grit my teeth through the rap. Now we get to the best song on this album, “Elastic Love“. When I first heard it I instantly thought of M. I. A. Then I found out that she collaborated with her on it. Xtina’s voice is treated like M. I. A.’s on her own songs, it has the kind of lyrics that I don’t understand at first listen, and it just has that bang that M. I. A.’s songs have. I like the spanish that’s thrown into the song, it adds some spice. The beat also has a Latin vibe mixed with the electronic sound. The album then moves into an intro ( I won’t review interludes unless they’re amazing and none of the ones on this album are). When “Glam” first starts I though I was going to hear “Ma Ma Ma Ma”. Lyric- wise this song is crap, but the beat is what gets me. All that I have to say about “Prima Dona” is “eh”, and I think I hear Lil’ Jon in the background. Now we come to the slow section. All that I have to say about “Sex for Breakfast” is that not every sex song has to be slow and boring. I skip it as soon as it comes on. This song is another highlight of the album. Not only do we get one amazing ballad, but we get two in a row. If you saw Christina on American Idol, you’ll know that “You Lost Me” is an amazing song, she sang the hell out of this song without screaming , and she out sang Janet Jackson’s lip- syncing ass under a bus. Now the album changes personalities again and goes back to the electronic sound. The only good thing about “My Girls” is Peaches. And “Vanity” is a bunch of conceited bull crap. I’m sure you can tell that I don’t like the ending of the album. Bionic was an okay album, there were some really good songs, but their were far more crappy songs than good. Maybe next time Christina Aguilera will stick with one sound. Dynamite: The Rise of James Brown (2014) 7.5 /10 Want to share IMDb's rating on your own site?
